Senegalese Migrant Faces Nine Years for Raping Disabled Minor

The 40-year-old defendant appeared before the Palma Provincial Court on Monday, according to Remix News, where he answered questions only through his attorney and with the assistance of an interpreter. He claimed he had never entered the garage in Manacor where prosecutors say the sexual assault occurred.

Court documents reveal that the victim had previously provided a statement confirming she met the accused through Instagram and exchanged messages with him before agreeing to an in-person meeting.

Spanish prosecutors maintain that the defendant traveled to the victim’s home on April 30, 2020, at approximately 4 p.m., as reported by Ultima Hora. They assert he was aware of the teenager’s “clearly perceptible” intellectual disability at the time of the encounter.

According to the prosecution’s case, the defendant convinced the girl to open the garage door before entering the property. Once inside, he allegedly coerced her into removing her clothing and proceeded to touch her inappropriately.

The victim stated she made clear she did not want sexual contact and asked to be allowed to leave the garage.

Prosecutors allege the Senegalese national prevented her from leaving and threatened violence, saying he would obtain a knife and kill either her or her sister if she continued to resist, Diario de Mallorca reported.

He then allegedly placed a mattress on the garage floor and raped the teenager for approximately 10 minutes. Despite her attempts to stop the attack, the victim was unable to physically overpower him, according to the prosecution’s account.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office is now seeking a nine-year prison sentence for the defendant, followed by deportation from Spain once he has served three-quarters of his term. Prosecutors are additionally requesting that he pay €20,000 in compensation to the victim for emotional trauma.

Pattern of Vulnerable Victims Targeted Across Europe

The Mallorca case represents the latest in a disturbing trend of migrants allegedly targeting children with disabilities for sexual violence across European nations.

Last month, an 11-year-old girl with disabilities was allegedly sexually assaulted at a special-needs school in Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate. A 20-year-old unemployed Afghan man, identified as Nassar S., faces accusations of entering the Hans-Zulliger School without authorization and assaulting the child at knifepoint inside a school bathroom. A suspected accomplice remained at large at the time of reporting.

The family’s legal representative told Bild newspaper that the victim reported one of the two young men was present during the abuse, pulled down his pants, and that a knife was used during the attack.

In Sweden, authorities charged a 17-year-old dual citizen of Sweden and Syria with aggravated rape of a child in May, while a 14-year-old was also investigated in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl with a disability.

The assault was reportedly filmed and took place across four public bathrooms at a shopping center in Uppsala in November. Investigators allege the two suspects coordinated their actions, using violence and threats to force the victim into vaginal and oral intercourse.

Although the victim was 15 years old, Swedish law treated her as a child under the relevant legislation because her disability resulted in a “reduced ability to protect their sexual integrity.”

Multiple Incidents Across France

In July 2023, an Afghan migrant was indicted over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl with a disability at a public swimming pool in Strasbourg. The 26-year-old also faced accusations of sexually assaulting three other females, including two 15-year-old girls and a woman in her 40s, at various swimming pools throughout the city.

Prosecutors said he first approached the disabled teenager at the Lingolsheim public swimming pool in May. French media described the victim as “slightly disabled” without elaborating on the specific nature of her condition.

In October 2024, a French former activist affiliated with the far-left La France Insoumise party in Nantes was indicted on allegations of raping and torturing a 4-year-old girl with a disability. Pierre-Alain Cottineau, 32, was placed in pretrial detention after reportedly confessing to the allegations while in police custody.

The series of cases highlights growing concerns about the vulnerability of disabled children to sexual predators and raises questions about security measures at schools, public facilities, and within migrant populations across Europe.
