The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. off Su Giudeu beach in Chia, Italy, according to Remix News. The boat was transporting ten illegal migrants when it collided with the young woman in the designated bathing area.

The victim suffered severe fractures and lacerations after becoming caught in the boat’s propeller. She lost consciousness from her injuries but was pulled from the water by lifeguards before she could drown. Emergency responders immediately began administering first aid on the beach.

Due to the critical nature of her injuries, medical personnel intubated the teenager on-site. She was then transported by air ambulance to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari, where she remains in critical condition, as reported by TGR.

The exact circumstances of how the young woman became trapped by the propeller remain under investigation. However, the incident highlights a growing and dangerous trend across European coastlines.

Migrant Boats Increasingly Landing on Swimming Beaches

Boats carrying undocumented migrants have appeared with increasing frequency directly on popular swimming beaches throughout Europe in recent years. These vessels routinely offload their human cargo right in front of vacationing families and beachgoers, creating dangerous situations for both migrants and European citizens.

The risk of serious accidents during these beach landings is substantial. Smugglers operating these boats are typically desperate to quickly unload their passengers and flee before authorities arrive. In their haste, they often fail to notice swimmers in the water or adequately control their vessels near crowded beaches.

Compounding the danger, migrants who have endured long and difficult sea crossings are frequently desperate to reach land and may scramble off the boats without regard for safety or their surroundings.

This latest tragedy underscores the real and often overlooked human cost of uncontrolled illegal migration on European communities, where citizens are increasingly endangered by the consequences of failed border security.
