The incident unfolded between Ottendorf-Okrilla and Laußnitz when the teenager and an accomplice illegally crossed railway tracks before boarding a regional train, according to Junge Freiheit. A female train conductor photographed the pair after witnessing their dangerous trespass across the tracks.

Once aboard the train, the two youths allegedly confronted and harassed the conductor over the photographs she had taken. When the train driver came to assist his colleague, the situation rapidly escalated into physical violence.

Violent Attack on Train Personnel

Federal police report that the 16-year-old Ukrainian attacked the train driver with considerable aggression. The assailant struck the railway employee in the face, forced him to the ground, and proceeded to kick him repeatedly while he was down, according to the official account.

The assault only ended when a 23-year-old passenger intervened, deploying animal defense spray against the attacker. However, the spray also affected the train driver, the conductor, and another passenger, all of whom suffered injuries to their eyes and respiratory systems from the chemical agent.

Suspect Found Intoxicated with Illegal Weapon

Following the attack, the Ukrainian youth fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later by police officers who located him in a nearby wooded area. Authorities discovered he was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

During the search, officers found an illegal knife in the suspect’s possession. After processing, the minor was released into the custody of his mother. His companion, also found to be drunk, was later picked up by railway security personnel and handed over to youth emergency services.

The incident adds to growing concerns about violence against public transportation workers in Germany and raises questions about juvenile offender accountability in cases involving intoxicated minors and weapons possession.
