The Cincinnati “Woke” Police Experiment Fails Facing Reality

Cincinnati's experiment appointing a bureaucratic, politically chosen police chief over experienced officers backfired, worsening crime as leadership lacked street-level insight and trust.

The experiment with implementing the “Woke” agenda in the Cincinnati Police Department in the USA “did not go so well”…

Cincinnati has just learned the hard way what happens when you assign crime fighting on the streets to bureaucrats instead of real police officers who know the area.

A five-month investigation by an independent researcher appointed by the city officially labeled former police chief Theresa Theetge as an “ineffective leader.”

The report found her professional performance to be satisfactory in bureaucratic matters but dangerously inadequate regarding operational knowledge and street experience.

Most participants stated that she could not return to the force and be effective. Her rigid, authoritarian approach bred mistrust across all ranks, precisely when the city needed strong leadership to tackle the chaos downtown.

This chaos erupted after a disastrous summer of 2025, with violent crime peaking in the city center.

Instead of supporting the officers actually fighting criminals, city leaders favored politics over policing.

They appointed Theetge as the first female police chief, prioritizing image over proven street experience.

She had worked in the Police Department for over 30 years, previously serving as deputy director and director.

Her family and lawyer pushed back, calling the report a one-sided attempt to distract from the failures of the mayor and city manager.

But the facts speak louder: you cannot lead from behind a computer and dozens of documents in your office when criminals have taken over the streets.

Enough with hires that make statistics look good and with administrative nonsense. Cities need battle-tested leaders who understand real crime, not politically correct substitutes.

Until voters demand real order and law instead of wasting officers’ time filling out endless forms with gender identity checkboxes, expect more of the same bloodshed and excuses…
