About
The National Popular Front (ELAM) is Cyprus's foremost national-conservative party, founded in 2008. Drawing on a platform of Cypriot nationalism, opposition to the Annan Plan and EU federalism, and strict immigration control, ELAM has grown from a fringe movement to a mainstream political force, winning four seats in the 2021 parliamentary elections with 6.78% of the vote. In the 2024 European Parliament elections, ELAM secured one MEP seat with around 8% of the vote, joining the European Conservatives and Reformists group.

Christos Christou has led ELAM as its president since 2011. Under his leadership, the party transformed from a marginal nationalist movement into a significant parliamentary force in Cyprus. He has consistently championed the reunification of Cyprus under Greek Cypriot terms while opposing Turkish occupation, and ran as ELAM's candidate in the 2023 Cypriot presidential election.
