Susan Rice Claims Trump’s ‘Stupid War’ Weakens US Globally

In remarks reported by Breitbart News, Rice argued that Trump had initiated an unnecessary conflict that previous administrations had wisely avoided, leading to what she described as uniformly negative consequences for American interests.

Rice asserted that she opposed the military action because it was a stupid war, claiming that all prior presidents had possessed the wisdom to steer clear of such engagement with Tehran. According to her analysis, the conflict could only produce bad or worse outcomes for the United States.

Claims of Strategic Blunder and Weakened Negotiating Position

The former national security official contended that the proper approach to Iran has always been diplomatic, not military. She maintained that decades of experience had demonstrated diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving tensions with the regime.

Rice argued that America now returns to negotiations from a considerably weakened position, despite degradation of Iranian military capabilities. She warned that Tehran has discovered it can weaponize the Strait of Hormuz to hold both the United States and the global economy hostage at will, a tactic she claimed Iran had been employing in recent days.

Costs to American Lives and Treasury

The Obama-era advisor outlined what she characterized as catastrophic costs from the engagement. She cited the loss of thirteen American servicemembers and expenditures exceeding 50 billion dollars in taxpayer funds on a war she insisted should never have occurred.

Rice further claimed that American consumers have borne over 50 billion dollars in increased costs as a result of the conflict. She argued that U.S. global standing has been weakened by the engagement.

Criticism of Military Effectiveness

In particularly pointed remarks, Rice suggested that the combined military might of the United States and Israel throwing everything at Iran still left the regime standing, which she characterized as damaging to American credibility worldwide.

When pressed by host Jon Karl about whether ending the conflict represented an improvement over continuation, Rice acknowledged the situation exists but maintained it constitutes an extraordinary strategic blunder that has caused enormous suffering to the American people.

Democratic Representative Ro Khanna reportedly supports the current agreement despite viewing it as inferior to the nuclear deal negotiated during the Obama administration, which Rice helped craft.
