Shock video: Bangladeshi man calls migrants to Nafplio: “Police won’t come
A viral video shows a Bangladeshi man in Nafplio, Greece, assuring undocumented migrants they can stay without fear of police, sparking debate about immigration enforcement.
“We are in Nafplio for work. Those who don’t have papers shouldn’t worry. Even if you stay in these places for 50 years, the police won’t come,” he says characteristically. He appears to be operating as a middleman, welcoming newcomers, organizing them, and finding them work in rural and semi-urban areas.
The video, posted by the account Stavroforos on June 22, 2026, clearly shows the mentality prevailing among certain groups of illegal migrants. The Bangladeshi man presents the area as a “safe haven” away from controls, while appearing to coordinate their arrival and employment.
Increasing Flows and Limited Controls
The incident comes at a time when an increase in the entry of illegal migrants from Bangladesh and other countries is being recorded. Many of them settle in provincial areas of the Peloponnese, where police controls are sparser compared to major urban centers.
Citizens who saw the video express puzzlement over how it is possible for someone without legal documents to circulate so freely and invite others, while simultaneously questioning the effectiveness of law enforcement in such areas.
Meaculpa reports that this particular Bangladeshi national acts as a fixer, arranging jobs and guiding new arrivals.
The release of the video has already sparked discussions about the need to strengthen controls and prevent the creation of parallel networks in Greek provinces.
What does the honorable Minister Mr. Thanos Plefris have to say about this particular video and the situation prevailing in Nafplio with illegal migrants?
“Είμαστε στο Ναύπλιο 150χλμ απο την Αθήνα για δουλειά, οσοι δεν έχουν χαρτιά να μην ανησυχούν & 50 χρόνια να μείνετε σε αυτά τα μέρη, η αστυνομία δεν πρόκειται να έρθει”
