Rick Scott Sets Red Lines on Iran: No Missiles, Terror Funding
Florida Senator Rick Scott demands Iran be barred from nuclear weapons, stop funding terrorists, and reimburse U.S. war costs as conditions for any agreement.
Speaking on the Guy Benson Show on Fox News Radio Wednesday, Senator Rick Scott made clear that he will not support any agreement with Tehran that fails to meet what he considers essential American security interests.
The Florida lawmaker emphasized that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, must cease funding terrorist proxy groups, and should reimburse the United States for costs incurred defending against Iranian aggression and its proxies.
Senator Demands Iran Pay War Costs
Scott pointed to Iran’s ongoing threats against Americans and argued the regime has ample resources to compensate Washington for military expenditures necessitated by Iranian actions. He insisted that no American taxpayer funds should flow to Tehran under any circumstances.
The senator specifically highlighted the danger Iranian ballistic missiles pose to American facilities and troops stationed at critical bases in Germany and Poland, as well as to Israeli security.
Regarding Iranian support for militant proxies, Scott stated the regime must completely halt financial assistance to groups targeting Americans and Israelis throughout the region.
Cautious Optimism on Trump Approach
While expressing appreciation for President Trump’s broader Middle East strategy, Scott maintained his firm red lines remain paramount, as Breitbart News reports.
The senator acknowledged the complexity of the administration’s diplomatic efforts and praised numerous Trump achievements in the region, but emphasized verification will be essential to any agreement.
When pressed by host Guy Benson whether he would oppose a deal that fails to meet his stated conditions, Scott indicated he would need to review final terms but could not envision supporting an agreement that falls short of these standards.

Scott concluded that much depends on whether Iran fundamentally changes its posture toward the United States and its allies. He suggested a genuine shift in Tehran’s behavior could alter the dynamics considerably.
