Rep. Ashley Hinson Wins Iowa Republican Senate Primary
Representative Ashley Hinson won Iowa's Republican U.S. Senate primary with 73.9 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Jim Carlin and earning party support for November's general election.
Hinson captured 51,277 votes, representing 73.9 percent of the total, while Carlin managed only 18,107 votes, or 26.1 percent, according to Breitbart News. The Associated Press declared Hinson the winner at 9:22 p.m.
Americans for Prosperity Action issued congratulations to Hinson following her primary triumph, pledging continued support through November’s general election. The organization stated on X that voters can rely on Hinson to reduce costs and defend Iowa’s interests, vowing that their grassroots network remains committed to delivering victory in the fall.
Hinson expressed gratitude to Iowa voters in her own post on X, writing that she felt honored to serve as the Republican Party’s nominee for United States Senate.
During an August 2025 interview on Breitbart News Saturday, Hinson praised President Donald Trump for delivering substantial victories on border security and crime enforcement, as Breitbart News reports.
The congresswoman emphasized that America is once again honoring its borders and national sovereignty, adding that the current results represent only the beginning of what can be achieved. She described Trump’s accomplishments during his first eight months in office as truly remarkable.
In a July 2024 conversation with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle at the Republican National Convention, Hinson attacked Democrats for running without a coherent agenda. She pointed out that even the New York Times had criticized then-President Joe Biden for being the least accessible president in modern history.
Hinson contrasted her own approach with Biden’s conduct, noting that she conducts weekly press calls, holds town halls throughout her district, and maintains regular accessibility to constituents. She characterized Biden as the most inaccessible president the nation has witnessed, adding that media outlets finally acknowledged this reality after three and a half years.
