Donald Trump indicated that a final agreement to end the conflict with Iran is near. At the same time, he decided to temporarily freeze the “Freedom Program,” the operation aimed at helping ships transit the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, the American president explained that the blockade at the Strait remains fully in effect. However, the “Freedom Program” will be temporarily suspended to determine whether the agreement can be finalized. He noted that the decision was based on requests from Pakistan and other countries, as well as progress made in talks with Iranian representatives following military successes.

“Based on requests from Pakistan and other countries, the major military success we achieved in the campaign against Iran, and the significant progress toward a full and final agreement, we have mutually agreed to temporarily freeze the ‘Freedom Program’ (the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz),” Trump emphasized.

A few days earlier, on Sunday, he had announced the Freedom Program following requests from countries that were not involved in the conflict and wanted to free their ships that had been trapped in the area. The goal was to secure safe passage to allow them to continue their activities.

However, the previous Friday, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the latest proposal submitted by Iran, citing internal divisions within the country’s leadership as a major obstacle.

These developments come at a critical stage, with the question still open as to if and when a definitive ceasefire will be achieved.
