Police in Rodopi and Kavala Bust Smuggling Network Transporting 13 Migrants
Authorities apprehended two foreign human traffickers in Rodopi and Kavala transporting illegal migrants by car; vehicles and phones were seized as investigations continue.
In the first case, at noon, officers from the Border Guard Department of Sapes located one of the perpetrators on the national highway between Alexandroupoli and Komotini. The trafficker, who was driving a private passenger car, illegally transported seven undocumented immigrants.
In the second case, in the evening, officers from the Migration Management Department of Kavala arrested the second human trafficker. The perpetrator, unable to present a driving license, was taken into custody as he was illegally transporting six undocumented immigrants inside his vehicle.
The vehicles and mobile phones involved were seized. The detainees are expected to be brought before the competent prosecutors, while the Border Guard Department of Sapes and the Migration Management Department of Kavala are conducting the preliminary investigations into these cases.
