Italy: 3-day gang rape by African illegal immigrants
Italian police arrested five illegal immigrants after a 32-year-old Colombian woman was kidnapped and gang-raped for three days in an abandoned Rome building before escaping.
A horrific case of kidnapping and gang rape has come to light in Rome, shocking Italian public opinion. The 32-year-old woman from Colombia fell victim to a gang of illegal immigrants in a squat in an abandoned building.
According to the police investigation, on the evening of May 19, the young woman was outside a restaurant when she was approached by a man under the pretext of buying hashish. He convinced her to follow him and then they abducted her by force, forcing her to get into a van. They took her to an old building in the Tor Sapienza area, on Via Talone, which was being used as accommodation mainly by African illegal immigrants.
There they held her hostage and subjected her to repeated gang rapes for three full days, under threat of death. Authorities are also investigating the possibility that substances were administered to prevent her from resisting.
As La Stampa reports, the 32-year-old took advantage of a moment when the perpetrators were not paying attention and managed to escape. She ran out half-naked and in a state of shock onto the street, where she asked a passerby for help. The citizen immediately called 112 and the woman was transported to Policlinico Casilino hospital, where injuries consistent with the violence she had suffered were confirmed.
The Italian police response was immediate. After a coordinated raid on the building, a total of 22 illegal immigrants were located. Five of them were arrested and charged with gang rape with particular cruelty, taking advantage of the victim’s diminished defense.
