Illegal Alien Allegedly Shoots at Homes, Firefighters in Austin
A 17-year-old illegal alien and two other teens were arrested in connection with 12 random shootings across Austin that left one victim in critical condition and damaged numerous properties.
Cristian Fajardo Mondragon faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, and deadly conduct following his arrest by the Austin Police Department earlier this month. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has filed a detainer against Mondragon, who entered the country illegally.
Authorities have connected Mondragon and two other teenage suspects—aged 16 and 15—to a shocking total of 12 separate shooting incidents throughout the Texas capital. The younger suspects’ names have been withheld due to their minor status.
The alleged shooting spree targeted both people and property indiscriminately. According to law enforcement, the trio fired at four individuals directly, struck five random vehicles, damaged three Austin Fire Department vehicles, hit four residential homes, and even targeted two Austin fire stations. Four victims sustained injuries, with one person remaining in critical condition while three others suffered minor wounds.
Prosecutors have since added additional charges against Mondragon, including theft of a firearm, burglarizing a building, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, as investigators continue linking him to the broader pattern of violence across Austin.
Police have not disclosed any motive behind the apparently random attacks. Mondragon is currently being held without bond as the investigation continues.
