Horror Scenario: Medvedev Trolls Germans, Threatens to Kidnap Chancellor Merz
Former Russian President Medvedev warned that escalating global tensions make leaders vulnerable to extreme threats like kidnapping, condemning the US detention of Venezuela’s Maduro as illegal aggression undermining Washington’s moral authority.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, in an interview with the Russian news agency TASS, expressed the view that it is conceivable to consider Chancellor Merz as a possible target for kidnapping. This statement came to light as a way to comment on the state of global politics, using the recent abduction—arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro by American forces as a model.
According to Junge Freiheit, Medvedev emphasized that the current geopolitical tensions constitute a growing risk for heads of state. The prospect of such an act, although extreme, reveals the increase in tensions prevailing on the international stage. The former Russian leader referred to the Cold War-like atmosphere and the insecurity experienced by politicians, commenting on the risky nature of politics today.
“US Intervention in Venezuela Strips Washington of the Right to Accuse Moscow”
The vice chairman of Russia’s Security Council describes the actions against Nicolás Maduro as aggressive and illegal. The arrest of the Venezuelan president by American forces constitutes a blatant violation of international law, Dmitry Medvedev points out, stating clearly:
The United States no longer has the moral authority to criticize Russia’s actions anywhere.
Medvedev recalled that Nicolás Maduro has repeatedly accused the US government of targeting his country’s oil reserves. Yet, Donald Trump does not hide this fact, the Russian official stressed.
At the same time, he described the American moves as pure aggression. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that Trump consistently defends his country’s interests—both politically, seeing Latin America as his sphere of influence, and economically, by claiming natural resources.
Dmitry Medvedev also addressed European countries, which questioned Maduro’s legitimacy, accusing them of classic hypocrisy. These doubts do not hold up, he said.
In a separate reference, he advised Volodymyr Zelensky not to be complacent. His presidential powers have long since expired, and his removal could come soon.
Referring to the United Nations, the former Russian president stated it lacks effective mechanisms to deal with such situations. The world truly needs instruments within the framework of international law to ensure security for billions of people.
He concluded that no country disliked by the United States can feel safe anymore. Medvedev cited Denmark and Greenland as examples.
The arrest of Maduro will intensify Latin America’s hatred towards the United States. The same scenario could be repeated in Ukraine, he concluded.
