Greece: Infant murdered in Kypseli with over 10 stab wounds
A Greek couple was arrested after police found a murdered infant with multiple stab wounds in a freezer and discovered two other children in the household had syphilis.
Forensic pathologist Symeon Mesogitis confirmed that the death resulted from criminal action. More than ten stab wounds were found on the baby’s back.
Initial findings indicate that the child was born alive and subsequently murdered. The exact age of the infant and the time of death remain unknown at present. Authorities found the unfortunate baby placed in a container inside a suitcase. Police investigations are continuing at an intensive pace to solve the case.
Two of the Children Have Syphilis
Two of the family’s minor children are suffering from sexually transmitted diseases, specifically syphilis, a fact that further complicates the already grim case.
The interrogation of the 43-year-old man and his wife, whose age is cited as either 38 or 28 years depending on sources, is expected to be completed within the day. The two are believed to be the parents of the murdered child. Their statements are considered negative so far, as they refuse to cooperate substantially with the investigations.
The Raid in Fyli and the Drug Connection
Earlier, police units conducted a surprise search at a residence in Fyli. The couple had lived there for approximately two years before moving 25 days ago to an Airbnb in Kypseli.
Officers estimate that the infant was in the freezer at the Fyli house for many months. The profile of the 43-year-old father, who claims to be unemployed without an apparent source of income, is leading authorities to investigate possible involvement in drug trafficking. The house in Fyli is being examined thoroughly, while DNA tests have been ordered for the couple and the three minor children aged 15, 12, and 9 years.
Caught with Suitcases in Hand
When they realized that the owner of the Kypseli apartment had notified the police, the 43-year-old man and the 38-year-old woman panicked. They hastily removed the infant from the freezer, placed it in a suitcase, and prepared to flee. Police officers arrested them at the moment they were attempting to leave the premises.
Who is the Father – The Scenarios and the Mother’s Contradictions
The biggest mystery remains the identity of the biological parents, according to a high-ranking police official. Found in the apartment were the 43-year-old man, his German wife, their three minor children, and the 26-year-old Afghan partner of their 15-year-old daughter, who is pregnant.
Initially the 43-year-old assumed responsibility, claiming that the infant was his and his wife’s. Security investigators are not ruling out anything and are seriously examining even the possibility that the mother of the infant may be the 15-year-old daughter.
The German wife has given contradictory statements. She claimed that she was pregnant with the infant, lost it, and chose to freeze it due to emotional attachment. She also changed her statements about the time of birth, initially stating it occurred two years ago and then eight months ago.
