According to Breitbart News, Gingrich used a post on his personal website to praise Trump’s strategy of assembling an international coalition while applying sustained economic and military pressure to force Tehran away from its earlier stance. The former Speaker rejected criticism emanating from both conservative and progressive quarters, noting that many detractors condemned the agreement without first examining its actual provisions.

Gingrich emphasized that ongoing vigilance toward Iran’s clerical dictatorship remains essential, citing both Ronald Reagan’s famous maxim and baseball manager Connie Mack’s observation about inspection versus expectation. Negotiating with Iran, monitoring its commitments and occasionally having to pressure the dictatorship militarily or economically is simply reality, he wrote, adding that leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps would inevitably seek maximum influence and flexibility.

The Georgia Republican challenged those who criticized the Iran deal before reviewing its substance, questioning what viable alternative they envisioned. He argued that Trump successfully charted a course between the Obama-Biden appeasement strategy and what would have required a massive ground invasion, leveraging American technological superiority in airpower and intelligence to force the religious dictatorship into positions far removed from where they stood during the previous administration.

Gingrich also highlighted Trump’s coalition-building achievements, noting that numerous nations have aligned with Washington in efforts to contain the Iranian regime and advance regional stability in the Middle East despite ongoing Iranian aggression.

Following Gingrich’s statement, reports emerged that Trump signed a framework agreement with Iran aimed at ending hostilities and establishing groundwork for comprehensive peace negotiations. The memorandum reportedly includes Iranian commitments to forgo nuclear weapons development, while the United States pledged to pursue sanctions relief and back economic development initiatives as talks progress.
