Far-left extremists torch Deutsche Telekom vehicles in terror attack
Left-wing extremists torched six Deutsche Telekom vehicles in Berlin early Monday, citing the CEO's defense industry comments and plans to develop drone systems with Rheinmetall.
The fires were reported at approximately 1:50 AM on the telecommunications company’s operational premises, according to Junge Freiheit. A claim of responsibility was subsequently published on a left-wing extremist website, revealing the ideological motivations behind the attack.
In their statement, the attackers cited recent comments by Tim Höttges, the CEO of Deutsche Telekom, who had identified the defense industry as an attractive business sector the company intends to pursue. The extremists specifically referenced Telekom’s plans to collaborate with Rheinmetall on developing a drone defense system as justification for their criminal action. The anonymous group stated they wanted to attack such plans.
The arsonists also expressed solidarity with Palestine Action Germany, another left-wing extremist organization that conducted a sabotage operation against Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems in Ulm in September 2025. This connection demonstrates the international coordination among radical leftist cells targeting defense and technology companies.
Police and Fire Services Respond
A witness alerted emergency services to the blaze. Fire department personnel managed to extinguish all burning vehicles, though police confirmed the cars were largely destroyed before flames could be brought under control. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Law Enforcement Condemns Ideological Violence
The Berlin chapter of the Police Union issued a sharp rebuke of the attack. Spokesman Benjamin Jendro wrote on X that the perpetrators had once again cobbled together a manifesto to justify their senseless actions, dismissing the ideological justification as apocalyptic conspiracy thinking.
The incident represents the latest in a series of left-wing extremist attacks targeting German businesses with ties to defense and security sectors. Authorities continue to investigate the arson, though the anonymity of the perpetrators and the underground nature of extremist networks often complicate prosecution efforts.
Deutsche Telekom has not yet issued a public statement regarding the attack or potential security enhancements at its facilities following the destruction of company assets.
