Russians’ “crazy” prank on Thanos Dokos and govt response
Greek officials call the prank on National Security General Secretary Thanos Dokos by Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus a hybrid attack using advanced AI technology.

The Russian pranksters’ attack
Earlier, Thanos Dokos fell victim to two well-known Russian pranksters, Vovan and Lexus, who impersonated Ukrainian officials. The perpetrators published a video from the video conference they had with him.
In the conversation, the pranksters warned of a potential repeat of an incident with a drone near Greek islands. They even claimed that there are disagreements between the Ukrainian president’s office and the country’s Defense Ministry regarding military actions against Russian targets.
Mr. Dokos responded that maintaining open communication channels is essential. He noted that at that time, the head of the Greek intelligence service was in Kyiv for contacts with his Ukrainian counterparts.
As National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, he expressed serious concern about the consequences of a new incident in Greek waters, especially during the summer tourist season. It is tourist season, there is increased maritime traffic. We understand the needs of the war, but we don’t want the war to be transferred to our territory or our territorial waters, he said characteristically.
At another point, he spoke about upcoming elections in Greece within the next few months, emphasizing that such an incident would create serious problems for the government. He pleaded for those planning similar actions to be warned, pointing out that these are busy waters and that any episode would affect the safety of navigation and tourism, creating problems in bilateral relations.
He also expressed the view that the Ukrainian leadership must weigh whether sinking a Russian ship is worth losing Greek support. They must decide if it’s worth losing Greece’s support to destroy a Russian ship. It’s that simple, he reportedly said, while also expressing concern about information regarding internal disagreements in Ukraine.
