Four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost was targeted in a violent home invasion at his Swiss residence, sustaining a head injury as masked intruders forced his family to open a safe.
The four-time world champion, 71, sustained a head injury during the incident at his residence in Nyon near Lake Geneva on Tuesday morning, Swiss tabloid Blick reported. The intruders forced the retired racing driver’s son to unlock a safe while threatening occupants inside the property.
Details of the Attack
Swiss authorities confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that “the perpetrators entered the residence while occupants were present, threatened them, and forced one family member to open a safe before fleeing.”
Multiple balaclava-clad attackers breached the home and threatened the family members inside. During the confrontation, one household member sustained minor head injuries. The intruders then compelled another family member to access the safe before escaping with valuables.
Police have launched an extensive search operation but have not yet apprehended any suspects. Officials stated that a complete inventory of the stolen items is still being compiled as the investigation continues.
Prost’s Response
Prost, who achieved his four world championships between 1985 and 1993, was reportedly deeply affected by the violent intrusion. Following the attack, the motorsport legend has vacated his Nyon residence.
