Two television directors publicly confirmed they refused to work on HBO's Harry Potter series due to disagreements with J.K. Rowling over transgender ideology.
Ally Pankiw posted on her Instagram account that when asked whether she would consider directing the new Harry Potter television adaptation, she responded with a profanity-laden refusal. Her WME talent agent reportedly endorsed the decision, confirming agreement with the blacklisting approach.
Pankiw justified her position by claiming it was a matter of refusing to fund what she characterizes as transphobia. Director Kate Herron then joined the conversation in the comments section, revealing she had been approached twice for the project and both times declined, stating her answer would never change.
