Crowd Calls for Trump’s Murder at Funeral for Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei
Iranian funeral processions for Ayatollah Khamenei featured government-sanctioned calls for Trump's assassination and revenge threats against Western leaders throughout the weekend.
The elaborate funeral events, which took place from Saturday through Monday, featured increasingly militant rhetoric and threats against Western leaders, according to Breitbart News. The crowd size and aggression escalated significantly from Saturday’s initial ceremonies to Sunday’s angry street demonstrations.
Among the most disturbing moments was a government-sanctioned performance by poet Mohammad Rasouli, who delivered a direct call for Trump’s assassination during his presentation. I swear by your blood; Trump’s murder is our responsibility, Rasouli declared to the assembled crowd, receiving enthusiastic applause both in person and from online viewers.
Rasouli continued his inflammatory speech, questioning why the American president remains alive and suggesting that killing the man responsible for the Supreme Leader’s death would be justified and necessary to avoid disgrace.
Mohammed Baher Zolhardr, secretary of Iran’s national security council, characterized the event as demonstrating two key messages from the Iranian people: resistance against enemies and revenge for their martyred leader.
The funeral stage itself became a platform for threats, with someone writing a hashtag reading “#WeWillKillTrump” alongside messages of grief. The crowds repeatedly chanted “No compromise, no surrender, only revenge!” throughout the proceedings.
Many male participants wore white robes signifying their willingness to become martyrs, while red flags—symbols calling for bloody vengeance in Shia Islamic tradition—were waved throughout the masses.
Multiple news outlets documented the violent sentiment pervading the events. Mourners carried numerous placards, signs, and banners explicitly calling for Trump’s death, as reported by various international media present at the scene.
Several attendees spoke directly to journalists about their motivations. One mourner emphasized that the gathering was not a goodbye but a promise of revenge. Another stated that the assembled crowd would continue the Supreme Leader’s path with clenched fists and soon avenge his death against the United States and Israel.
A third mourner told reporters they came specifically to shout and seek revenge, stating plainly that since Iran’s imam was killed, they should kill the American leader in response.
A group of elderly women dressed in black robes told Al Jazeera News they had come to seek blood vengeance for their leader. They also pledged loyalty to Khamenei’s son, despite his conspicuous absence from the proceedings.
Mojtaba Khamenei, who was installed as the new Supreme Leader by the Iranian military in March, has not been seen or heard from publicly since the February 28 attack that killed his father. He did not appear at any of the weekend funeral events.
The procession on Monday, which transported Khamenei’s body first to Mehrabad International Airport before its ultimate journey to his hometown of Mashhad, featured even more explicit threats. President Trump was hanged in effigy during the procession, while a large red banner announced a $100 million “Iranian bounty” on Trump’s head.
Crowds lining the streets of Tehran chanted “We don’t want a deal, we want Trump dead,” a direct rejection of ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations. Additional chants called for “death to the foreign-backed Pahlavi,” targeting political activist Reza Pahlavi, son of the last Shah of Iran.
The weekend’s events demonstrated the Iranian regime’s willingness to use state-sponsored platforms to incite violence against foreign leaders while mobilizing public sentiment for continued confrontation with the West.
