Ukraine: Russian Advance Remains Quiet and Unnoticed
Russian forces advanced significantly near Kupiansk in eastern Ukraine, exploiting global media focus on the Middle East, while Ukrainian troops intensify counterattacks using drone-supported tactics.
In Eastern Ukraine, the Russian military formation “Western Combat Group” took control of an extensive area in Kupyansk last week, according to the Russian news agency Tass.
Russian troops also expelled Ukrainian guards from two fortified settlements in the Sumy region and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) last week.
The area near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region was the most successful for Russian forces last week, where the Russian “Western Combat Group” assumed control of a large territory, military expert Andrey Marochko reported.
“The best results in liberating occupied territories last week were demonstrated by the forces of the ‘Western Group,’ capturing a large area east of Kupyansk,” he wrote on his VKontakte social media page, analyzing data from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“During the reporting period (last week – TASS), the Ukrainian armed forces intensified their counterattacks,” he continued.
“Ukrainian fighters have increased pressure on our positions in the occupied part of the DPR, as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. It should be noted that the enemy adopts the tactics of the Russian armed forces and operates in small groups supported by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs),” noted the military expert.
