Trump Eyes MAGA Rally After Artists Bail on Freedom 250 Concert

President Trump proposed replacing planned Freedom 250 concerts with a MAGA rally after multiple performers withdrew from the 2026 anniversary celebration on the National Mall.

The President floated the idea in a lengthy Truth Social post on Saturday, suggesting organizers scrap the Great American State Fair’s Freedom 250 concerts in favor of a patriotic rally centered on his Make America Great Again movement.

Trump also used the opportunity to criticize a federal judge who ordered his name removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts just one day earlier.

We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, Trump wrote, dismissing the artists as boring and complaining.

The comments followed a wave of cancellations by performers who had been announced for the Great American State Fair, a large-scale national celebration planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event is scheduled to run from June 25 through July 10, 2026, stretching from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument as part of the America 250 celebration.

Multiple Artists Back Out of Performance

Earlier in the week, Freedom 250 organizers released a performer lineup, but several artists subsequently withdrew their participation. Those backing out included Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day and The Time, and C+C Music Factory, according to New York Post.

Other performers, including rapper Vanilla Ice, publicly stated they remain honored to participate in the celebration.

Trump Positions Himself as Top Draw

In a separate social media post Saturday, Trump suggested replacing the concert with a major speech after several artists got what he called “the yips.”

The President promoted himself as the number one attraction anywhere in the world, claiming he draws larger audiences than Elvis in his prime while doing so without a guitar. He positioned himself as the man who loves the country more than anyone else and referenced claims by some supporters that he is the greatest president in history.

Trump indicated he was considering delivering the speech and holding a rally on June 24 to kick off the festivities, one day before the official start of the Great American State Fair.

The President made clear he did not want so-called artists who are paid far too much money and are not happy with the event. He stated he only wants to be surrounded by happy people, smart people, successful people, and people who know how to win.

Freedom 250 Confirms Presidential Address

Following Trump’s posts, Freedom 250 officially announced that the President would indeed deliver a speech ahead of the Great American State Fair.

Danielle Alvarez, a Freedom 250 spokeswoman, confirmed on X that as the visionary behind the Great American State Fair, organizers are excited to announce Trump will personally kick off the historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24, in an opening ceremony celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

The announcement solidifies Trump’s central role in the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration despite the performer withdrawals that initially threatened to undermine the planned concert events.
