Trump at G7: More Arab Nations Expected to Join Abraham Accords

Trump said multiple Arab nations will soon join the Abraham Accords now that Iran's diminished regional standing has removed the primary obstacle that previously deterred them.

Speaking to reporters including Breitbart News during a bilateral meeting with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France on Tuesday, Trump expressed confidence that Tehran’s diminished regional standing has cleared the path for broader Arab participation in the accords.

When asked by Breitbart News whether he had held recent discussions with Arab leaders about joining the normalization framework—which the UAE first signed during Trump’s initial term in 2020—the president praised the early signatories and predicted a wave of new entrants.

Trump described the UAE leader as someone who was ahead of the curve on normalization, noting that the original Abraham Accords partners, including Bahrain and the UAE, proved to be forward-thinking in their approach. He emphasized that despite recent regional tensions, no country abandoned the agreements.

The president pointed out that even during periods of heightened conflict, none of the signatory nations withdrew from the accords, demonstrating their commitment to the normalization process.

Trump then identified Iran as the primary obstacle that had previously prevented other Arab states from joining, suggesting that fear of the Islamic Republic had served as a deterrent. With Iran now weakened, according to Breitbart News, Trump indicated that conditions have changed dramatically.

The comments follow Trump’s recent public call for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan to formally join the Abraham Accords framework in the coming weeks.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, characterized Trump’s remarks about the Abraham Accords as among the most significant statements the president made at the G7 summit. Graham expressed hope that negotiations to permanently end Iran’s nuclear ambitions would succeed, crediting Trump’s policies with severely weakening Tehran and its proxy network.

Graham noted that Iran’s capacity to orchestrate attacks similar to the October 7 massacre has been eliminated, and that the regime has suffered major setbacks to its nuclear program. He described potential Abraham Accords expansion as the ultimate strategic victory over Iran.

If the confrontation with Iran results in widespread Arab-Israeli normalization and regional integration, Graham suggested, it would rank as one of the most successful military operations in American history.
