Thasos boat rescue: Six passengers saved after vessel capsizes

Six Romanian nationals were rescued unharmed after their rented boat capsized off Thasos on July 19th, with authorities investigating the incident's cause.

Coordinated rescue operation

According to Law & Order, another vessel belonging to the rental company and the sailing yacht “KOZMOS” flying a Turkish flag responded to the scene of the incident.

The two vessels located the capsized boat and successfully rescued all passengers aboard. The six survivors were safely transported to shore and reported that they were in good health.

Vessel recovery and environmental inspection

The boat rescue concluded with the vessel being safely recovered at the port of Limenaria. During the examination of the incident, no marine pollution was observed.

A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the 1st Port Authority Department of Thasos under the Central Port Authority of Kavala to fully clarify the circumstances of the capsizing.
