Authorities in Samos dismantled an organized network involved in the illegal trafficking of migrants following a coordinated operation conducted after months of investigation, according to MeaCulpa.gr.

The case is linked to the identification and rescue of 34 foreign nationals in the maritime area of Kallithea in Samos on March 30, 2026. The Security Office of the Samos Coast Guard, in cooperation with the Directorate of Security and Protection of Maritime Borders, as well as the National Intelligence Service, utilized critical information that led to the identification and arrest of those involved.

Two Turkish nationals, aged 26 and 34, who are believed to be the main traffickers of the migrants, were arrested during the operation. They transported the foreigners from the Turkish coast using a speedboat in exchange for monetary compensation. Three additional individuals, nationals of Turkey, Syria, and Iraq, aged 45, 24, and 43, who reportedly played a supporting role in the operation, were also detained.

The investigation revealed that the detainees belong to an organized criminal structure with a continuous presence in trafficking migrants into Greece. Additionally, the authorities seized the speedboat used for transportation, a passenger vehicle, and five mobile phones.

The competent services continue to analyze the gathered evidence aiming to identify any further members of the network, as well as possible connections to other similar criminal activities.
