Pop Star Roisin Murphy Bans Trans Activists from Her Concerts
Irish singer Roisin Murphy sparked backlash after declaring she does not want trans activists at her concerts, claiming the transgender movement harms gays and lesbians.
The “Overpowered” artist posted on X that the transgender movement is harming gays and lesbians by changing historical records, denying sexual orientation, hijacking their rights movement, undermining public acceptance, and dismantling established culture, according to Breitbart News.
Murphy went further, stating that the practice of converting children to transgenderism is significantly decreasing the numbers of gays and lesbians, thereby altering the power dynamic irreversibly for the future.
The “Ramalama (Bang Bang)” singer was responding to an X user who had shared a comment claiming that a trans woman threw the first brick at Stonewall and that pride was never about sexual orientation, but rather originated from the trans community.
When a left-wing fan urged her not to let the discussion overshadow her talent, claiming LGBT people live together in harmony as a community, Murphy refused to back down. She stated that she needs to know her audience supports her position, making clarity essential.
I do not want trans-activists at my concerts, and neither do my fans, Murphy declared, while adding that all others remain welcome.
Another social media user argued that trans men are not lesbians, suggesting some historical lesbians may have been unhappy as women without knowing they could transition. Murphy shot back by pointing out those women were unaware they could undergo double mastectomies, take medications causing beards, early menopause, and infertility.
The “Free Will” singer added sarcastically that those historical lesbians were unfortunate not to have had such options, concluding that she has her own community.
When another commenter suggested Murphy tour Russia where LGBT is banned as an extremist movement, the artist continued defending her position across multiple posts.
In a Monday morning follow-up post, Murphy expressed heartbreak for lesbians, noting there were never large numbers of exclusively same-sex attracted women to begin with.
She argued that young girls are now transitioning before exploring their sexuality, while men demand access to every female space, intimate or otherwise. The “Let Me Know” singer lamented that a fragile culture built by one of the most marginalized and misunderstood groups is dying with very few people caring.
This marks not the first time the Irish artist has addressed transgender issues publicly, as Breitbart News reports.
In 2023, Murphy bluntly stated that puberty blockers are harmful and desolate, with big pharmaceutical companies profiting while vulnerable mixed-up children need protection.
The singer also objected to being labeled a TERF, or Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist, pleading with critics to stop using that term against women.
