A significant risk to the balance(!!!) in Cyprus arises from the presence of French troops, according to a statement by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, at a time when the Turks maintain an occupation army of over 40,000 men since 1974…

The following Turkish statement is notable for the Turkish fantasy that “Turkey acts in accordance with international law,” at the same time as it has invaded neighboring countries and has maintained an occupying army in Cyprus for 50 years.

The panic of Ankara is evident throughout the statement, but where it “hits red” is in the final lines, which refer to the future and what those who cooperate with Turkey have to gain from it.

The Statement from Ankara

In its recent statement, the Ministry emphasized that Turkey acts in accordance with international law, highlighting the maintenance of peace and stability in the region. At the same time, it clarified that this approach does not mean a retreat from national rights and interests, nor from the interests of the “second Turkish Republic” in Cyprus.

The announcement describes that the security arrangements in Cyprus have been determined through international agreements, with Turkey having the role of a guarantor power. The Turkish Ministry of Defense also pointed out that statements regarding the deployment of French troops to “southern Cyprus” are not justified by any specific security need. Such initiatives may disrupt the existing balance and bring increased tension to the region.

Additionally, the Ministry expresses concern about recent statements by European officials against Turkey, emphasizing that these references do not align with the law of alliances. The statements from France and Greece, which are NATO members, may damage regional peace and stability.

Finally, the Turkish Ministry of Defense stressed that any military alliance against Turkey has no chance of success, noting that in the future, those who cooperate with Turkey will be the winners on issues of security and stability.
