Meningitis thriller at ELDYK causes concern in Cyprus

A Greek soldier from the Hellenic Force in Cyprus was treated for meningitis in intensive care but has now been extubated, while two other soldiers are being monitored and preventive measures implemented.

The spokesperson for the Cyprus Ministry of Defense, Christos Pieris, announced that his health condition is stable and if all goes well, his extubation is scheduled for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, two other soldiers are being closely monitored for any symptoms.

Mr. Pieris emphasized that all necessary measures have been taken, in cooperation with the Infectious Diseases Center. Specifically, spraying with a special solution has been carried out in the areas, bedding has been changed, while the patient’s close contacts will wear masks for the next three days.

In addition, preventive medication has been administered to soldiers who may have come into contact with the patient.
