ICE Detainees at Delaney Hall Eat Better Than Most Prisoners

Federal immigration authorities released detailed meal menus from New Jersey's Delaney Hall ICE detention center to counter allegations of inhumane conditions amid calls to close the facility.

The Department of Homeland Security on Friday disclosed a comprehensive menu served to detained criminal illegal aliens at the Newark facility, which includes items ranging from fajitas to barbecue chicken, according to New York Post.

The facility, operated privately by GEO Group, has become the focus of intense criticism from demonstrators and prominent Garden State Democratic officials who allege poor treatment and substandard food quality. The detention center maintains a capacity of 1,000 beds and currently houses approximately 300 migrants.

Three Daily Meals Including Hot Entrees

DHS provided a detailed breakdown of weekly breakfast, lunch, and dinner options offered to detainees within the past month. Morning meals include oatmeal, pancakes, scrambled eggs, grilled potatoes, chicken breakfast meat, cream of rice, dry cereal, milk, and coffee.

Lunch selections feature chicken leg quarters, turkey stir-fry, beef and bean burritos, vegetarian beans, chicken fajita meat with tortillas, Spanish rice, fideo with meat sauce, chicken fried steak, and fortified sugar-free tea.

Dinner options encompass jambalaya, meat and vegetable stew, tuna salad, Salisbury patty with gravy, enchilada casserole, chili mac, potato wedges, mixed vegetables, and fortified sugar-free beverages.

DHS: Standards Exceed Most U.S. Prisons

Department officials maintain that living standards at Delaney Hall surpass those found in most American prisons and dispute claims that detainees are conducting a hunger strike.

Markwayne Mullin, DHS Secretary, noted that detainees have access to a commissary where they can purchase additional food items if the provided meals do not satisfy their preferences.

In a Newsmax interview earlier this week, Mullin challenged critics directly: If any of these Democrats want to provide commissary on their books — feel free, suggesting they use personal funds to support detainees if they feel conditions are inadequate.

No Hunger Strike, Full Services Provided

A DHS spokesperson categorically stated that no hunger strike is currently underway at Delaney Hall. The department emphasized that even during hunger strikes, ICE continues providing three daily meals delivered to individual rooms along with adequate drinking water and beverages.

All detainees receive three meals daily, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, and toiletries, the spokesperson confirmed. Illegal aliens housed at the facility also have telephone access to communicate with family members and legal counsel.

Certified dieticians evaluate all meals served at the facility. The spokesperson emphasized that ICE maintains higher detention standards than most U.S. prisons housing American citizens.
