High School Girl Sues After Alleged Assault by Trans Wrestler
A 16-year-old Washington wrestler sued her school district after allegedly being sexually assaulted by a biological male identifying as female during a girls' wrestling tournament in December.
Kallie Keeler, a sophomore at Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington, claims the assault took place on December 6 during a match against Emerald Ridge High School, according to Breitbart News. The teenager reported that while she was face down on the mat with her opponent on top of her, the biological male placed his hand between her legs and attempted to push his fingers into her vagina.
Keeler filed a formal complaint with the Puyallup School District immediately following the incident. While an investigation was initiated, the matter produced little result. Washington State maintains education policies that grant transgender students broad freedoms within the school system, including participation in sports according to their stated gender identity rather than biological sex.
Suzanne Beecher, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom representing Keeler, explained the timeline of events to The Center Square. Kallie has been wrestling since she was four, Beecher noted, adding that the December match was part of an all-girls tournament where Keeler competed unknowingly against a male athlete identifying as female.
Keeler’s mother reported the assault to school officials immediately after the match. According to Beecher, the family heard nothing for months until media coverage prompted the school to finally fulfill its legal obligation to report the case to law enforcement.
Kate Anderson, Senior Counsel at ADF and director of the ADF Center for Parental Rights, condemned state officials in a press release. Washington state authorities are pushing gender ideology at all costs, Anderson stated, even at the expense of girls’ safety and privacy.
The lawsuit targets both the Puyallup School District and the state of Washington. Beecher argued that Washington’s rules governing transgender athlete participation directly contradict federal Title IX regulations and violate women’s rights to safety and fairness in athletic competition.
The legal action, filed jointly by Keeler and her mother, seeks to ensure the teenager can compete on a level playing field. At minimum, Beecher explained, the family wants parents to be informed when biological males are competing in female categories. The suit also demands compensation for the harm inflicted on Keeler.
