Harvard Continues Failing on Antisemitism, Gottheimer Says
Democratic Representative Josh Gottheimer accused Harvard University of systematically failing to address antisemitism on campus while praising other institutions for taking decisive action against the problem.
Speaking Friday on Fox News Channel’s “Faulkner Focus,” Gottheimer contrasted Harvard’s handling of antisemitic incidents with the more decisive responses taken by other major universities. He specifically praised institutions in Florida, along with Vanderbilt and Emory, for taking the right approach to combating campus hatred.
Gottheimer framed the surge in antisemitic incidents—which he noted have increased 70 percent since the October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel—as part of a coordinated effort. “There is money being spent to divide us, to attack religious freedom, and to spew hatred,” he told the network, pointing to foreign adversaries including Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia as driving forces behind amplified divisive messaging online.
The New Jersey lawmaker emphasized that hostile foreign powers strategically leverage platforms like TikTok to sow discord within American society, targeting multiple communities including Jews, Catholics, and Muslims. Gottheimer warned that repeated exposure to such disinformation on college campuses produces measurable consequences for student attitudes and behavior.
While acknowledging that some universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, have reversed course on the issue, Gottheimer reserved his sharpest criticism for Harvard, suggesting the institution’s persistent failures warrant deeper investigation into funding sources and institutional decision-making.
