Foreign exhibitionist chased 26-year-old in Syngrou underpass
A 26-year-old woman was chased by a Yemeni man who exposed himself in an Athens pedestrian crossing before police arrested him on indecent assault and immigration charges.
A 26-year-old woman experienced terror on Syngrou Avenue, near Panteion University, on the afternoon of Monday, June 22.
A foreign national of Yemeni origin followed her into an underground pedestrian crossing in the area and chased her while simultaneously exposing his genitals. The incident took place near a playground where underage children were playing.
The 26-year-old eventually managed to get away from the perpetrator and immediately notified the authorities.
The Hellenic Police quickly located the suspect on Lagoumitzi Street and arrested him. A case file was formed against him for indecent assault, while he faces additional charges for illegal entry and residence in the country.
The case highlights once again the security issues faced by citizens in central areas of Attica.
