Fear in Glyfada: 3 Foreigners Arrested with Air Pistol, Knife, and Hammer
Three armed foreign nationals, masked and carrying weapons including an air pistol and knife, were apprehended by Athens police in Glyfada, leading to charges and a legal investigation.
Three foreign nationals, aged 32, 36, and 37, were arrested in Glyfada on the evening of April 3rd by police officers of the DI.AS. Team of the Attica Police Headquarters (G.A.D.A.) while they were walking around with their faces covered and armed.
The men were spotted walking on a street in the area. During the subsequent search, an airsoft pistol, a folding knife, and a hammer were found in their possession, and a criminal case was filed against them.
How the Operation Began
The police had already identified a suspicious vehicle with the three occupants, which had remained parked for an extended period on a street in Glyfada.
When the foreigners exited the car, they covered their facial features and attempted to avoid the inspection by brandishing a hammer, knife, and pistol. However, they were immediately subdued.
Findings During the Search
After immobilizing them, the police conducted a thorough search. Among the items found and seized from the detainees were a full-face type balaclava, a plastic magazine for the airsoft pistol, a metal refill canister, a GPS tracking device, the sum of 1,000 euros in cash, and four mobile phones.
The Criminal Case and the Detainees’ Proceedings
A criminal case was filed against the three foreigners by the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Southeastern Attica for violations of weapons legislation and threats. The detainees were taken to the competent prosecutor.
