Boat with 92 illegal migrants spotted off Gavdos
The Greek Coast Guard coordinated the rescue of approximately 92 migrants from a boat south of Gavdos, with survivors transported to Paleochora port for registration.
Dozens of illegal migrants were “rescued” in an operation coordinated by the Coast Guard in the sea area south of Gavdos.

A boat carrying approximately 92 illegal migrants was located at a distance of 43 nautical miles south-southeast of Gavdos, within the framework of an operation conducted under the auspices of the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED) of the Coast Guard. According to Law & Order, the boat was spotted by a manned aerial asset of FRONTEX.
All well
Those on board were safely picked up by a cargo ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, which responded to the relevant request for assistance. The operational coordination between the authorities allowed the completion of the rescue without incident.
At the port of Paleochora
The approximately 92 foreign nationals are being transported to the port of Paleochora in Chania, where the prescribed procedures for registration and provision of necessary support will be followed.
