Labour Under Fire Over Grooming Gangs Report in Britain

Rupert Lowe, a Member of Parliament, submitted a draft resolution to House of Commons administration on Wednesday demanding action following the publication of his investigative report. According to Junge Freiheit, Lowe declared on social media that “the establishment must now finally act, not just talk,” urging fellow parliamentarians to support his motion.

The 219-page report released Tuesday reveals that grooming gangs have operated in 149 communities, towns, and metropolitan districts throughout Britain. The document cites a 2019 estimate from a UKIP House of Lords member suggesting 250,000 potential victims nationwide, described at the time as a conservative figure.

Pakistani Muslims Identified as Predominant Perpetrators

The investigation found that nearly all identified rape gangs consisted of Pakistani Muslims. The report authors note that Islamic principles and doctrines regarding the treatment of non-believers, as well as Islamic clan culture, influenced the perpetrators’ behavior.

The report’s authors, who include victims of grooming gang abuse, relied primarily on press reports, court documents, and extensively quoted testimony from whistleblowers and survivors. Multiple children and adolescents suffered sexual abuse within their own families, while some victims were reportedly trafficked to the Middle East.

Systematic Failures by Authorities

One English victim from a rotating foster care arrangement recounted being taken to a sexually transmitted disease clinic by social workers at age 13. Despite testing positive for chlamydia and gonorrhea, neither social workers nor doctors questioned the circumstances of infection and returned the girl to her rapists. Police officers also treated her as an illegal prostitute during multiple interrogations.

Years later, after several relocations, another Pakistani man forced the now-adult woman to convert to Islam and marry him, followed by continued rape, the forced birth of a disabled child, and domestic violence. She eventually rebuilt her life in Scotland with assistance from a women’s shelter.

Report Demands Deportations and Harsher Sentences

The investigation recommends deporting all perpetrators and stripping citizenship from those holding dual nationality. Authors call for standardizing existing child abuse laws and adding prohibitions on Sharia marriages. The report also demands financial compensation for victims and automatic referral to responsible authorities when suspected sexual diseases or genital injuries are detected in minors.

Lowe’s report proposes raising minimum sentences to at least 25 years imprisonment without possibility of early release. Gang leaders would face minimum 50-year sentences. Robert Jenrick, a Member of Parliament for Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, announced plans to introduce legislation mandating life sentences for grooming gang members.

Rotherham Scandal Exposed Decade-Long Cover-Up

Grooming gangs gained widespread public attention through reporting on cases in Rotherham, northern England. Between 1997 and 2013, at least 1,400 girls aged 11 and older were regularly drugged, raped, and subjected to physical violence in that town alone. The Labour city council and local police knew about the rape cases since 2001, with some police officers allegedly participating in the crimes.

The Labour government under Keir Starmer only established an official inquiry commission in December 2025, with work not scheduled to begin until after year’s end.
