Foreign Smugglers Arrested in Evros: Police Expose Two Migrant Transfers

Authorities in Evros apprehended two foreign traffickers attempting to illegally transport migrants inland, seizing vehicles and phones; investigations are ongoing under local border police units.

There is unrest in Evros following the arrest of two foreign traffickers who attempted to illegally smuggle migrants into the mainland.

Specifically, the arrests were made by officers of the Orestiada Police Department in two separate incidents. In the first case, in the morning on the Ormenio – Ardaniou National Road, authorities spotted one of the traffickers driving a private car and transporting five illegal migrants.

In the second case, during midday in a rural area of Evros, police arrested the second trafficker who, driving a private car, was carrying seven illegal migrants.

During the operations, the vehicles and mobile phones used for transportation were confiscated. The two detainees are expected to be brought before the Orestiada Court of First Instance, while the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Border Guard Departments of Didymoteicho and Orestiada.
