Incident in the Park

A 24-year-old illegal Pakistani immigrant in Italy was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison following an attempted rape of a 13-year-old boy in a public park in Campogalliano, in the province of Modena.

The incident took place on the evening of July 8, 2023, while the minor was in a public area of the city. The photo published shows the bench where the unsuspecting 13-year-old boy was sitting.

The accused suddenly approached him, grabbed him by the wrists, and attempted to sexually assault him.

However, the boy managed to free himself and quickly escape the scene. His quick reaction proved to be lifesaving.

The Complaint and the Investigation

The following day, July 9, an Italian citizen filed a complaint on behalf of the boy at the Carabinieri station in Campogalliano. Authorities, under the guidance of the Modena Public Prosecutor’s Office, immediately launched an investigation.

Evidence was gathered that led to the identification of the Pakistani illegal immigrant and to the charges being filed.

By August 11, 2023, a preliminary investigating judge at the Modena court ordered his house arrest, a measure that remained in effect until the end of the trial and the final conviction.

Execution of the Sentence

On February 28, police officers from the Campogalliano and Soliera departments carried out the prison sentence issued by the General Prosecutor’s Office at the Bologna Court of Appeal. The Pakistani was transferred to Modena prison to serve his sentence.
