Netanyahu Pauses Iran Strike After Trump Intervention
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday that Israel would halt military strikes against Iran following President Trump's directive for both nations to honor their cease-fire.
The Israeli leader stated that hostilities on the Iran front had been successfully contained, according to New York Post. However, Netanyahu’s wording suggested Israel may continue operations against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, which Tehran has attempted to tie to the existing cease-fire framework between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
President Trump earlier Monday issued a directive on Truth Social demanding both nations cease firing on one another. Iran responded by announcing its own halt to strikes on Israel shortly before Netanyahu made his statement public.
Netanyahu delivered a stern warning alongside the cease-fire announcement, making clear that Israel retained full authority to respond to future aggression. He emphasized that should Iran commit an error and restart attacks, Israel would answer with overwhelming force.
The Prime Minister affirmed Israel’s inherent right to self-defense and pledged the nation would exercise that right whenever circumstances demanded action.
