Trump Praises Vance’s Anti-Fraud Task Force: ‘Looks Like Elliot Ness
President Trump praised Vice President JD Vance's anti-fraud task force at a White House cabinet meeting, comparing him to Elliot Ness and claiming the team uncovered tens of billions in fraud.
According to Breitbart News, Trump highlighted the task force’s achievements during his opening remarks, drawing parallels between Vance’s anti-fraud campaign and Ness’s famous pursuit of Al Capone’s bootlegging operation during Prohibition.
The president described Vance and his team as worthy of central casting, suggesting their work could be turned into a film. Trump revealed that the task force has already uncovered tens of billions of dollars in potential fraud, with Vance indicating that far more remains to be discovered.
The scale of the fraud discovered has been staggering enough that Trump suggested a balanced federal budget might be achievable simply through recovering stolen funds. They’re crooks, they’re thieves, the president stated, expressing hope that Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche would bring the perpetrators to justice.
The task force has identified fraudulent activity spanning multiple government programs, as Breitbart News reports. Investigations have revealed fraud in hospice and home healthcare sectors, particularly concentrated in California, as well as widespread abuse of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in states including Minnesota.
The team has also exposed suspected government contract fraud and pandemic-era coronavirus relief fraud. In recent weeks, the task force has successfully blocked tens of millions of dollars in suspected student aid fraud.
Trump emphasized the unprecedented nature of the enforcement effort, stating that in just two months the task force has exposed tens of billions in defrauded taxpayer money, prosecuted numerous fraudsters, and stopped billions in suspicious payments.
The president contrasted his administration’s approach with previous governments, claiming that hundreds of billions of dollars had been stolen while others turned a blind eye as connected individuals profited from the schemes.
Vance, who is implementing a whole-of-government strategy to combat fraud across federal agencies, acknowledged the president’s support as essential to the task force’s success. He credited dedicated presidential leadership as the key factor enabling the wide-ranging investigation.
