The summit, convened by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was announced a few days before the New Year through a post on his social media.

“The countries of the Alliance of the Willing will meet in Paris in early January to finalize the specific contribution of each state,” stated the French president following communications with other European leaders, as well as with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
