JD Vance Launches H-1B Visa Program Fraud Investigation
Vice President JD Vance announced a federal investigation into H-1B visa program abuses, with the Department of Labor issuing subpoenas targeting exploitation of the system that displaces American workers.
Speaking to an audience in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Vance declared that the Department of Labor has initiated dozens of subpoenas and investigations targeting foreign actors who exploit the visa scheme, according to Breitbart News.
The Vice President laid out what he described as a fundamental principle: American jobs ought to go to American workers and not foreign fraudsters, and pledged that the Department of Labor would fight back against abuses in the system.
Both Vance and the Department of Labor characterised the move as an anti-abuse crackdown rather than a wholesale rejection of the H-1B programme, which currently keeps at least 800,000 non-immigrant foreign contract workers in positions that would otherwise be filled by American graduates.
Kevin Lynn, founder of U.S. Tech Workers, a lobby group representing American professionals sidelined by federal visa programmes including H-1B, J-1, F-1/OPT, and L-1, welcomed the announcement but urged further action. He called on constituents to arrange meetings with their congressional representatives during the August recess to press the issue directly.
Vance explained that whilst the H-1B programme was originally established to attract brilliant technologists, scientists, and doctors to the United States, major corporations and overseas fraudsters have increasingly weaponised it to undercut American wages. He made clear that those attempting to exploit the visa system would no longer be permitted entry to the country.
The Vice President’s statement acknowledges rising anger among white-collar workers regarding visa programmes and opens the door for increased public scrutiny and citizen pressure that could empower Republican or even Democratic politicians to resist business donor influence.
Currently, most college graduates vote Democratic. However, a significant portion may shift allegiance if President Donald Trump, Vance, and their administration can restore white-collar job opportunities to Americans.
In June, Silicon Valley investor Chamath Palihapitiya, a West Coast donor, acknowledged to the establishment outlet Axios that the H-1B programme requires reform, stating that foundational programmes have suffered extensive abuse.
Palihapitiya argued that to set these programmes on the right course, honesty about the abuses is essential, as Breitbart News reports. He emphasised the need to stop the bleeding in order to rebuild trust with the broader American population.
Breitbart News has extensively documented how Indian managers and C-suite executives exploit multiple visa programmes to quietly transfer jobs from American professionals to foreign workers and relatives desperate to relocate to the United States.
These executives also embezzle company resources through featherbedding, salary kickbacks, and self-dealing contracts concealed within the complex regulatory frameworks governing the H-1B, H4EAD, L-1, J-1, OPT, and B1/B2 visa programmes.
The outsourcing schemes face mounting risk as growing numbers of Americans and some Republican politicians recognise the elite exploitation and ethnic discrimination within Fortune 500 companies and subcontractors that employ the vast majority of the 1.5 million mixed-skill visa workers and their spouses. The arbitrage is also expanding across American universities and non-profit organisations.
Despite these concerns, the programmes enjoy robust support from the investor class and numerous business lobbies eager to inflate stock valuations. The Indian government also fiercely defends the schemes, leveraging trade agreements and Indian-born chief executives to protect the American visa programmes that underpin its migration-focused economic strategy.
The massive white-collar outsourcing programmes, affecting at least 1.5 million jobs, receive virtually no critical examination from white-collar journalists in the establishment media. This silence likely stems from reporters lacking the workplace authority to expose the business-backed economic policy that has pushed millions of their professional peers out of careers and the middle class.
