19-Year-Old Hospitalized Foreigner Arrested for Arson in Heraklion
A 19-year-old in Heraklion, hospitalized after a 15-meter fall from Venetian Walls, was arrested on arson charges linked to a car fire, with police confirming ongoing investigations.
The young man is expected to be transferred soon to a clinic where he will continue his treatment in custody, as there is an outstanding arrest warrant against him. According to information from neakriti.gr, the 19-year-old is alleged to be responsible for an arson attack on a vehicle, leading to the issuance of the warrant.
It is noted that his fall from the walls occurred early on the morning of the previous Tuesday, when the young man fell from a height of approximately 15 meters, resulting in serious injuries.
The announcement by the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) confirming the arrest states:
Yesterday (21.01.2026) in Heraklion, a 19-year-old foreign national was arrested by officers of the Heraklion Crime Prosecution and Resolution Subdivision because there was an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the 1st Magistrate Court of Heraklion for the criminal offense of intentional arson. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Heraklion Crime Prosecution and Resolution Subdivision.
