The strikes mark an escalation in Ukraine’s campaign to cripple Moscow’s ability to finance and sustain its invasion, now entering its fifth year. Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong>, president of Ukraine, confirmed that his forces targeted two refineries overnight, describing the operation as a strategic blow to Russian war capacity.<\/p>\n

A refinery in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, located in Russia’s Krasnodar region east of occupied Crimea, caught fire after Ukrainian drones struck the facility, according to regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev<\/strong>. Falling debris from intercepted drones killed one person at the site and injured another in a nearby village, local authorities reported.<\/p>\n

The Slavyansk plant ranks among the most important refineries in southern Russia, processing nearly four million tons of crude oil annually and serving as a crucial hub for petroleum exports through Black Sea ports, including fuel oil, naphtha, and marine fuel.
