{"id":874,"date":"2026-01-30T13:52:59","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T11:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsfire.gr\/en\/?p=874"},"modified":"2026-05-18T16:54:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T13:54:11","slug":"russia-labels-international-lgbtq-movement-an-extremist-terrorist-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsfire.gr\/en\/russia-labels-international-lgbtq-movement-an-extremist-terrorist-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia Labels International LGBTQ Movement an Extremist Terrorist Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This decision, made in November 2023 following a request from the Ministry of Justice, <strong>grants authorities the power to ban symbols, public events, and any form of support or promotion of related topics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In early 2024, the movement was officially included in the list of extremist and terrorist organizations maintained by Rosfinmonitoring (Federal Financial Monitoring Service).<\/p>\n<h2>Within the framework of protecting traditional values<\/h2>\n<p>The Russian authorities present these measures as <strong>necessary<\/strong> for the <strong>defense<\/strong> of <strong>traditional values<\/strong> and <strong>national identity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Previous laws had already drastically restricted the public discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation issues, <strong>prohibiting<\/strong> for example <strong>&#8220;propaganda&#8221; to minors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The designation as an extremist organization carries serious consequences.
