In a campaign against taxpayer waste, approximately $328 million in Department of Transportation funds to California has been suspended, along with more than $300 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to data obtained by California Post from the Office of Management and Budget.<\/p>\n

Some of the eliminated funding includes $876,000 for research aimed at “reducing social isolation among elderly LGBTQ individuals,” $1.1 million for the “National HIV Behavioral Surveillance of Los Angeles County,” and another $600,000 to Public Health Advocates, Inc. to fund the “Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health” program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The state’s clean energy sector is also taking a substantial hit, as the Trump administration cuts millions of dollars in funding for the purchase of electric buses and charging stations.<\/p>\n

The targeted initiatives include $14.3 million to the city of Santa Cruz for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at “local government locations emphasizing equity,” $77 million for the purchase of 75 electric buses and installation of charging infrastructure in West Hollywood, and $9.9 million to the city of Santa Rosa for the purchase of six electric buses aimed at providing “quieter and safer” transit services for the “Environmental Justice Community.”<\/p>\n

The announcement comes just weeks after the Office of Management and Budget sent a memo that orders an extensive review of federal funding in 14 Democrat-led states, plus Washington D.C., to identify mismanagement and wasteful spending.<\/strong><\/p>\n
