Harmeet Dhillon<\/strong> told New York Post<\/em> in an exclusive interview Friday that the investigation centers on workers’ rights to religious accommodation, regardless of San Francisco’s cultural leanings.<\/p>\n

The probe stems from events at the Giants’ June 12 Pride Night at Oracle Park, when four pitchers openly declined to participate in the team’s rainbow-themed uniform promotion. Relief pitchers Landen Roupp<\/strong>, JT Brubaker<\/strong>, and Ryan Walker<\/strong> inscribed Bible verses on their caps, while pitcher Sam Hentges<\/strong> refused to wear the Pride hat entirely.<\/p>\n

Within days, MLB spokesman Pat Courtney<\/strong> confirmed the players had been warned that writing on their caps violated league uniform regulations and that they faced potential consequences for future violations.<\/p>\n

A veteran attorney who defended religious liberty cases before assuming leadership of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Dhillon said she acted swiftly after receiving concerns from senators, congressional members, and private attorneys.<\/p>\n

Her goal was to signal immediately that the players should face no punishment or suspension for their stance.<\/p>\n

Dhillon characterized the players’ actions\u2014inscribing Bible verses inside their caps or declining the Pride hat\u2014as a dignified and understated exercise of religious conscience.<\/p>\n
