Scary Movie Returns After 13 Years with Its Sixth Installment<\/h2>\n

After 13 years of absence, the legendary Scary Movie series returns with its sixth installment, and from the first trailer released in early March 2026, it is clear: the Wayans brothers (Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory) are not playing it safe. The film, set to be released in theaters on June 5, 2026 (after a slight change from the original projections), brings back not only Anna Faris (Cindy), Regina Hall (Brenda), and Marlon Wayans (Shorty), but also the very spirit of the series: unfiltered humor, equal-opportunity offense, and zero respect for \u201csacred cows.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marlon Wayans made it clear in recent interviews (among others with Entertainment Weekly<\/em> and Deadline<\/em>):<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to bring comedy back like it used to be. And the only way is to cancel the cancel culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This phrase is no accident\u2014it reflects the film\u2019s official stance against what it considers \u201cexcessive sensitivity\u201d and the \u201cwoke agenda,\u201d which, according to him, has killed free humor.<\/p>\n

The trailer opens right away with one of the most characteristic (and controversial) jokes: A woman is stabbed by Ghostface, another lady shouts \u201cHe stabbed her!\u201d, and the victim replies, \u201cNot \u2018her\u2019! My pronouns are they\/them! He stabbed them!\u201d The joke explicitly references a scene from Scream VI<\/strong> featuring Mindy (who uses she\/they pronouns) and more generally alludes to the current discussion around pronouns and non-binary identities. For some, this is a transphobic line; for others, it\u2019s classic Scary Movie humor that satirizes everything\u2014even the social trends of its time.<\/p>\n

And it doesn\u2019t stop there. The trailer is full of lines playing on political and social issues:<\/p>\n

  • Cindy says, \u201cI\u2019m Republican now, so I\u2019m supposed to be racist,\u201d and Brenda responds, \u201cAll white people are racist anyway, come here!\u201d<\/li>\n
  • A group arriving at a party says, \u201cWe want to drink, play bad music, do half-gay dumb stuff.\u201d To which the reply is: \u201cWhy only half-gay?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The film satirizes recent horror movies, such as Get Out<\/strong>, M3GAN<\/strong>, Terrifier<\/strong>, Sinners<\/strong>, Smile<\/strong>, Longlegs<\/strong>, The Substance<\/strong>, Wednesday<\/strong>, and, of course, the Scream<\/strong> universe. It could be summed up with this phrase:<\/p>\n

    \u201cEvery red line is crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel cancel culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    The reactions are divided, just as one would expect:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • On one side, right-wing and anti-woke accounts and many fans are celebrating: \u201cFinally, a movie that doesn\u2019t suck up, that fries everything without apologizing.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
    • On the other side, \u201cprogressive\u201d websites in the U.S. (such as them.us, PinkNews) and LGBTQ+ communities label the film even as transphobic. Responses have already started before the film\u2019s release, with hashtags like \u201ccancel Scary Movie 6\u201d circulating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      But that is exactly the Wayans\u2019 goal: equal-opportunity offense<\/strong>. As they have always said, no one is sacred\u2014not woke culture, not conservatives, not trans people, not straights, not Black people, not white people. The Scary Movie series was built on this DNA: to mock everything with exaggeration\u2014often crudeness\u2014and zero political correctness.<\/p>\n

      Whether you see it as a \u201cbreath of fresh air\u201d in comedy that \u201clost its guts\u201d or as \u201cold, problematic humor from boomers,\u201d Scary Movie 6 comes out clearly and says:<\/p>\n

      \u201cWe won\u2019t apologize for laughing at everything.<\/p>\n

      And if that means a war with cancel culture and the woke agenda, then let the war begin.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      June 2026: get ready for chaos, laughter\u2026 and lots of outrage.<\/p>\n
