The 72-year-old music producer and television personality, known for his unfiltered commentary over four decades in show business, delivered the scathing assessment during an appearance on the podcast hosted by financial guru Philip Hopf<\/strong> and Dominik Kettner<\/strong>, according to Nius<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Bohlen<\/strong>, who rose to fame in the 1980s with the band Modern Talking before becoming a judge on the RTL talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, minced no words in his criticism of Germany’s governing elite. He described German politicians as having lost touch with the citizenry they are meant to serve.<\/p>\n

The father of six argued that political leaders have become intoxicated with their own power and show no humility before the people. Whether the Christian Democrats or Social Democrats are in charge makes little difference, he suggested, as the same detached governance continues regardless of which party holds the reins.<\/p>\n

Domestic Failures Mount<\/h2>\n

Bohlen<\/strong> pointed to collapsing public services as evidence of government incompetence. Schools are plagued by teacher shortages and canceled classes on a daily basis, he noted, while the healthcare system lacks sufficient nursing staff to care for patients properly.<\/p>\n

The entertainment veteran called for radical tax reforms to incentivize work and productivity. Overtime pay should be tax-exempt, he argued, and seniors who choose to continue working past retirement age should face drastically reduced tax burdens. The fundamental problem, according to Bohlen<\/strong>, is that the state has forgotten its purpose is to serve its citizens rather than the other way around.<\/p>\n

Cancelled for Speaking His Mind<\/h2>\n

Despite building a television empire on his trademark blunt assessments, Bohlen<\/strong> was abruptly fired from Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2021. He recounted how new management at RTL summoned him after he returned injured from a trip, immediately informing him his services were no longer required.<\/p>\n

The dismissal came after years of controversy over his politically incorrect commentary. By his own accounting, Bohlen<\/strong> has paid out five million euros in damages over the years for refusing to moderate his opinions. He remains unapologetic, stating that being politically incorrect is simply who he is.<\/p>\n

Though rival broadcaster Stefan Raab attempted to recruit him to ProSieben following the dismissal, Bohlen<\/strong> ultimately returned to RTL and now sits once again on the DSDS judging panel.<\/p>\n

Defense of Controversial Singer<\/h2>\n

Bohlen<\/strong> also addressed his relationship with singer Xavier Naidoo<\/strong>, who served as a fellow judge on the program from 2019 to 2020 before being terminated over controversial statements during the coronavirus period. Many of Naidoo<\/strong>‘s supporters have blamed Bohlen<\/strong> for failing to defend the musician publicly.<\/p>\n

The television personality insisted that fans overestimate his influence, explaining he had no say in the broadcaster’s personnel decisions. He recalled his time working alongside Naidoo<\/strong> fondly, describing him as a gentleman despite holding unconventional beliefs about topics ranging from flat earth theories to NASA conspiracies.<\/p>\n

Democracy Demands Open Debate<\/h2>\n

When discussion turned to the controversial podcast appearance by AfD politician Bj\u00f6rn H\u00f6cke<\/strong>, Bohlen<\/strong> expressed frustration with what he views as the degradation of democratic discourse. The fundamental principle of democracy is the willingness to engage with those who hold different viewpoints, he argued, questioning why dialogue with political opponents has become taboo.<\/p>\n

He reserved particular contempt for what he characterized as warmongering among certain German politicians. Bohlen<\/strong> expressed bewilderment that citizens are not rising up to demand peace, asking what happened to the Green Party that once positioned itself as the party of pacifism.<\/p>\n

Warning About Nuclear War<\/h2>\n

Most alarmingly, Bohlen<\/strong> revealed he has personally telephoned Chancellor Friedrich Merz<\/strong> multiple times to express concerns about the escalating conflict in Eastern Europe. Those conversations left him deeply pessimistic about the government’s judgment.<\/p>\n

The chancellor appears convinced Ukraine can achieve military victory, according to Bohlen<\/strong>, but shows no willingness to consider the catastrophic consequences of pushing Russia into a corner. The entertainment mogul warned that Moscow possesses hundreds of nuclear weapons and will not simply accept defeat, making the current trajectory dangerously reckless.<\/p>\n

His message to the German public was direct and urgent: speak up before it is too late.<\/p>\n
