According to Junge Freiheit<\/em>, victim testimonies describe the perpetrators as young men between 15 and 20 years old who match an “Arab or southern Mediterranean phenotype.” Authorities at the police headquarters have identified a connection between the attackers’ apparent hatred of homosexuals and a strictly Islamic worldview.<\/p>\n

Since last year, seven such attacks have occurred in Offenbach. The assaults follow a disturbing pattern: gang members contact potential victims through dating apps, arrange meetings, and then violently assault the homosexual men upon arrival. Police reports indicate that attackers have used a “hard object” and a pepper spray pistol during the attacks. Following public disclosure of the attacks, CSD Offenbach cautioned against linking the violence to perpetrator origins. In 2024, foreign nationals accounted for 60 of 173 suspects\u2014representing 34.7 percent of perpetrators despite comprising a far smaller share of the general population. The majority of these foreign attackers originated from Afghanistan, Turkey, Syria, and Iraq.<\/p>\n

Political Realignment Among Homosexual Voters<\/h2>\n

Ahead of the 2025 federal election, polling data from the dating platform Romeo showed a significant shift in political preferences among homosexual men. The survey found that 27.9 percent intended to vote for the AfD, placing the party ahead of the Greens at 19.9 percent and the Union at 17.6 percent. Romeo operates as Europe’s largest platform for homosexual men, with over 1.3 million users across the continent.<\/p>\n
